In 2013, Laurel House embarked on The “Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope” Capital Campaign and welcomed our community of volunteers, donors, and friends to work together to bring our vision of the Safe Haven Center to life.
In 2019, Laurel House purchased a building in Montgomery County. PA, where it relocated its former shelter and expanded support services. In 2022, construction and rebuilding efforts were completed, and we opened the doors to our Safe Haven Center.
The Safe Haven Center is close to public transportation, job training programs, employment opportunities, and many other community resources. As the county’s only comprehensive domestic violence agency, Laurel House provides life-saving services and support for the entire community. This secure and easily accessible facility houses our emergency shelter, which is the only one in the county, as well as some of our supportive services for domestic violence survivors and their children, including counselors, case management, children’s programs, and so much more.
Although our former shelter been a trusted and respected resource in Montgomery County for more than 45 years, offering hope and healing to women, men, and children devastated by domestic abuse, the costs of maintaining the shelter in a building that was at the time over 100 years old increased each year. We are so grateful to everyone who made an investment in this campaign.
The Safe Haven Center has transformed our organization’s capacity to serve victims, improve outcomes for more families in Montgomery County, and ensure a safer community for years to come.
