Dear Friends,

Laurel House first opened its doors in 1980 for the purpose of providing hotline and emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. Now, nearly 40 years later, Laurel House has grown into a comprehensive domestic violence agency, providing supportive services, as well as dating violence and domestic violence prevention education throughout Montgomery County.

Although our programs and services have expanded and changed over the years, Laurel House’s commitment to the vision of “ending domestic violence in each life, home and community” remains as steadfast as ever.

As you scroll through our website you will find information about the services we provide, the people whose lives we touch, and any current supportive needs that we have. Laurel House was founded by a group of dedicated volunteers, with considerable “hands-on” support from a wide variety of community members.  All these years later, we still rely heavily on the incredible work of our volunteers who assist with everything from “staffing” our two thrift shops, helping with the phones and clerical tasks at our main office, planning and implementing our special events, responding out to emergency calls from law enforcement and medical professionals, providing childcare at our Shelter and Community Counseling locations, and so much more.  I am always touched by the generosity of these people who offer their time and talent to help us continue to serve the people who turn to us for help.  We also rely heavily on, and deeply appreciate, the generosity of our in-kind and financial donors. A wide variety of individuals, businesses, foundations, faith communities, and other groups provide financial support.  We are honored that they choose to partner with us through their investment in our work.
