Beth’s First Years at Laurel House

When Beth joined Laurel House in October of 2005, Laurel House had a budget of approximately $1.5 million. Through her leadership, the Laurel House budget has grown to $3.4 million. This has allowed Laurel House’s programs to expand to provide life-saving supportive services to victims of domestic violence throughout Montgomery County.

One of the biggest program developments during Beth’s tenure has been the Domestic Abuse Response Team Program. The Domestic Abuse Response Team is a 24-hour, 7 day per week program, that provides on-site advocates to victims of domestic violence when called by law enforcement or medical personnel. It was first piloted in 2005 with 6 area police departments and one part-time advocate. The first year it was in operation, a total of 23 calls were received. However, over the last 18 years, the program has grown to include 4 full-time advocates and received over 700 calls last year.
